Exploring James Bond s Caribbean Islands

The James Bond books and movies have always been known for their exotic locations, and some of the films helped put resorts like the British Colonial Hilton and destinations like Jamaica on the global tourist map. In the recent remake of the first Bond film, Casino Royale, filmmakers made a return visit to the Bahamas (where scenes for Thunderball, For Your Eyes Only, and The World is Not Enough were filmed) to provide a tropical backdrop for new Bond actor Daniel Craig. Not only did Ian Fleming make his home in Jamaica, but original Bond actor Sean Connery has a home in the Bahamas, on private Lyford Cay. Let's spy out some of the secret agent's favorite haunts in the Caribbean:...

Famous Movies Based in Las Vegas, Ovation Blog

New York City and Los Angeles might be the cities most commonly depicted in the pictures, but they’re not the only ones. The ever-photogenic Las Vegas, with its larger-than-life reputation, also makes for a great setting for movies. Looking back through film history, Las Vegas has had plenty of times to shine on the silver screen, most memorably in these classic films. The lights and sound of the Las Vegas Strip make the city a compelling location for many films, but there’s also plenty of material to be found in Las Vegas’ notoriously seedy mob history. “Casino,” Martin Scorsese classic gangster picture, revolves around fictional characters played by Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci. However,...

The best James Bond film locations, CN Traveller

James Bond films are not just about martinis, car chases and beautiful, accommodating women who are also martial-arts experts. The dramatic, sweeping shots of iconic scenery and far-flung destinations are also a trademark of the films, from the vertiginous heights of Sugar Loaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro to a floating palace in Udaipur, and the impossibly lovely beach in Jamaica where Ursula Andress emerged from the sea in that bikini. The 24th film, Spectre, is out this November, with Daniel Craig as Bond, Ralph Fiennes as the new M, Bond girls Lea Seydoux and Monica Bellucci, and Christoph Waltz as the head of the 'Spectre' organisation. The film trailer shows an epic boat chase on London...

James Bond movies, ranked from worst to best - Business Insider

All 25 James Bond movies, ranked from worst to best James Bond was a big deal in my household growing up. There were only two things my step dad loved more than Sean Connery's 007: Sergio Leone Westerns and the San Francisco 49ers. As a result I saw the early Bonds quite a lot as a kid, but kind of skipped past George Lazenby and Roger Moore and went directly to Timothy Dalton. Of course I later caught up with the ones I skipped as a kid, but it's been a nice long while since I've watched any of the Bond films so when Collider asked me to rank every entry in the franchise, I figured it was high time to revisit them all, starting with Dr. No and going all the way to Spectre. That's a whole...

Casino Royale Movie Review Film Summary (1967), Roger Ebert

Casino Royale At one time or another, "Casino Royale" undoubtedly had a shooting schedule, a script and a plot. If any one of the three ever turns up, it might be the making of a good movie. In the meantime, the present version is a definitive example of what can happen when everybody working on a film goes simultaneously berserk. Lines and scenes are improvised before our very eyes. Skillful cutting builds up the suspense between two parallel plots -- but, alas, the parallel plots never converge. No matter; they are forgotten, Visitors from Peter O'Toole to Jean-Paul Belmondo are pressed into service. Peter Sellers, free at last from every vestige of' discipline goes absolutely gaga, This...
